Each month’s class features a new design theme, so you'll have the chance to create a unique piece based on the current season or botanical inspiration. Whether it’s a charming small basket, a rustic market tote, or something more intricate, all materials are provided, making it easy for you to dive into the craft without worrying about sourcing supplies. Jeannie’s expert guidance will help you through each step, from preparing the natural materials to the final weaving touches, ensuring that you leave with a finished product you're proud of.

This rectangular basket will have a woven reed bottom. Natural (or light beige) will be the primary reed color and the center will have a horizontal accent pattern in a darker color, forming a stepped diamond shape. At the center of the dark pattern there will be a decorative button and at the top of the basket we will attach a black leather handle, making this a perfect hanging basket for mail or other items. The approximate size will be 9.5" long by 3.5" wide and 9" tall. Please allow 5 hours for completion. Let’s create something great together!

This small, rectangular basket will be woven around an old potato masher, what a way to reuse/recycle! There will be several different colors of potato masher to choose from, with color choices available at class time. Dimensions are approximately 9.5" long by 4" wide and 3" tall.

Friday, April 3 , 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m |  Braided Seagrass Carrier
This sturdy decorative baseket has a nice swing handle, suitable for carrying or displaying your items. There will be several reed colors to choose from (or you can keep it natural) and we will weave some braided seagrass to add texture to this great basket. Dimensions are approximately 12" long by 8.5" wide and 5.5" tall to the top of the rim.

Saturday, April 11, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. |  Vittoria
New technique alert! We will start this round basket on a wooden base and will weave around a plastic bowl. This bowl will be removed once we get to the top of the basket. This is a continuous weave, with the option for experienced weavers to incorporate some round reeds, and a simpler version for beginning weavers. The basket will be woven with smoke colored reeds and will be approximately 4.5" tall and 8.5" wide.

Saturday, May 9, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. |  Williamsburg Market
This is a fairly large market basket that can be used at the farmers market or versatile, . This basket gets its name from the handle that will be used. It is smaller at the bottom and gradually gets wider as you weave. Different reed colors will be available to choose from at time of class. Approximate size is 11" long x 10" wide by 7" tall. Please allow the full five hours for this basket. Course fee is $55. Garden members receive 20% off!

Maya is a great basket for beginners! It is considered a medium-sized market basket with a square handle and will be woven with natural and dark brown reed. There will be a rust-colored metal embellishment that will be added after weaving has been completed. Dimensions will be approximately 9" long by 7" wide by 7" tall. Course fee is $55.
