Spend an afternoon shaping clay and exploring stories as we consider our connection toancient feminine figurines with instructor Anna Stoysich. In this workshop, we’ll look at how these timeless forms, voluptuous, rounded, faceless, and deeply human, have appeared across cultures with their exact purposes still unknown. Using clay as our medium, we’ll explore with curiosity the meaning and possible uses of these historical figurines. Through hands-on making, we’ll use clay as a way to learn through touch and intuition, allowing the process to guide us toward a deeper understanding of why these figures were created and what they may have meant to their makers. Each participant will create their own figurine inspired by personal intention, whether rooted in ancestry, imagination, or present-day reflection. Together, we’ll consider how these forms carry meaning, how they might have been used, and how they continue to speak to us today. We’ll work with the same material as ancient makers: clay from the earth, shaped by hand and fired to last.
