Programs are designed for ages 16+
Thursday, July 31, 6 to 7:30 p.m. | Pollinator Garden Tour
Join Lauritzen Gardens for an evening tour that highlights the essential connection between plants and pollinators. As you ride the tram and walk through highlighted gardens, you'll learn how certain flowers and plantings are designed to attract and support bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Plant records specialist Trent Erickson will share insights into how plant choices, bloom times, and garden design all contribute to increased pollinator activity. Pre-registration is required. $20, $10 for garden members.
Wednesday, August 20 AND Wednesday, September 3, 6 to 7:30 p.m. | Native Plant Workshop
Start your journey to a more sustainable garden with this two-day workshop, where you'll learn how to integrate native Nebraska plants into your landscape. As a bonus, each participant will receive native plant seeds and a "Native Planting in Progress" yard sign to proudly display. Transform your garden this summer while supporting local ecosystems! Pre-registration is required. $60, $50 for garden members.
Friday, August 22, 8 to 10 p.m. | Singing Insect Twilight Tour
When the sun goes down, the high-pitched songs of crickets, katydids, grasshoppers, and cicadas are a prominent element of the summer landscape. Join Dr. Ted Burk for a guided evening exploration of the garden, when the insect chorale is at its peak. See what insects are active and learn to identify insects by their song. This tour includes a tram ride, but participants will be walking for the majority of the program. Pre-registration is required. $25, $15 for garden members.
Wednesday, September 10, 6 to 7:30 p.m. | Native Plants Garden Tour
Led by Plant records specialist Trent Erickson, this guided experience blends a tram ride with short walks through garden areas, highlighting native plants from Eastern Nebraska and the broader Midwest. Learn how these species thrive in our region’s unique climate and how they play a vital role in local ecosystems. Whether you're a plant enthusiast or simply curious about regional biodiversity, this tour offers a closer look at the native gems growing right here in your public garden. Pre-registration is required. $20, $10 for garden members.
