Observational Drawing

DATE: Sunday 2/22/26   TIME: 10:00am - 12:00pm

Programs are designed for ages 16+

Sunday, February 22,  10 a.m. to noon  |  Observational Drawing
Reduce stress and practice bringing attention to the present moment through observational drawing. This class, led by Chelsea Herman, invites participants to explore drawing as a mindfulness practice with a primary focus on using line, shape, light, shadow, volume, and  form to notice the world (in this case, the plant world) in new ways. While this approach to observational drawing often yields wonderful artwork, the emphasis on this class is process before product. Designed for beginning and experienced artists alike. All supplies provided. Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance.
Course Fee: $35  |  Garden members receive 20% off.

Tuesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 26,  6 to 8 p.m.  |  Botanical Illustration: Language of Flowers
Two sessions. Take a trip into the Victorian era and the popular book Language of Flowers. Many books have been written about flower meanings and how to use plants to signify dates. We'll adapt these to make our own floral illustrations full of meaning. Open to all experience levels, the class provides materials for you to borrow but students may bring extra materials such as pencils, erasers, sketchbooks, and other preferred items. Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance of the first session. Instructed by Camille Werther.
